What is a "massively multiplayer online game"?
While many modern computer games support multiplayer gaming,
few are designed to support well over 1,000 simultaneous players. With
Shadowbane, you don't start the server program on a local network and
invite a few of your friends over to play. Instead, you run the Shadowbane
client program and use the Internet to connect to ubi.com's servers.
How many people can play Shadowbane?
Shadowbane will support hundreds of thousands of players on servers across North America.
Do I have to pay to play Shadowbane?
When you purchase Shadowbane you will receive a free 31 days of play.
The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for Shadowbane is $39.99,
which comes with 31 days of play. After the 31 free days, users
will have the choice of selecting one of several rate plans.
The exception is players who subscribe to the 12 month plan.
Because players subscribing to the 12 month plan instantly receive access to the
three restricted races, they are billed for the 12 months of game time immediately.
12 month plan subscribers receive their free game time at the end of their first 12
months. In other words, the 13th month would be free.
ubi.com does not offer refunds.
When is the game coming out?
Shadowbane is now available in North America!
Will I be able to download the game online?

Will I be able to play with people from around the world?
ubi.com's Shadowbane community is centralized on servers in North America. Other licensees of Wolfpack Studios, the developer, plan to release the game on their own servers in Europe and Asia. One will not be able to access the European or Asian servers unless one lives in that particular country. We are exploring options with Wolfpack that may allow players from across the world to transport characters across servers and/or play together.
Are there plans for a Shadowbane expansion pack?
Wolfpack and ubi.com have ambitious plans to expand the Shadowbane universe with monthly content updates and through expansion packs. There is a lot in store for the world of Aerynth.
How many zones are there in Shadowbane?
Much of the land in Shadowbane will be player-owned and player-controlled, so as Empires and Kingdoms begin to form,
you should expect the worlds to be constantly changing, making it very
exciting and sometimes even dangerous to explore.
Is this game only for PvP players?
Absolutely not - only at the higher levels. Players can learn the game
without PvP by starting in a safe-hold city. Safe-hold cities allow players
to level up solo or in groups through level 20 without PvP. We have added
a lot of depth in the area of PvP, well beyond any other title out there.
Kingdoms will be made up of all types of players: not just warriors and
mercenaries, but merchants and ambassadors and noblemen, too. The goal
of the game isn't just "kill people," it to build a massive
virtual empire and participate in the strategic "game of thrones."
There are many ways to make an impact on the World of Aerynth. Brute force
is only one of them.
